On July 12th, more than 20 ASPEN members gathered at the American-themed Antenna America bar/restaurant for an evening of discussion with Captain Keitaro Ushirogata. Capt Ushirogata is a Senior Research Fellow at the JSMDF Command and Staff College.
The conversation focused on the current state of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)'s nuclear capabilities, with CAPT Ushirogata sharing expert perspectives on China’s modernization efforts, strategic doctrine, and potential implications for regional stability and deterrence.
The laid-back setting provided a unique opportunity for a small group of ASPEN members and guests to engage in meaningful exchange with a leading voice from Japan’s maritime defence community.
