YCAPS Members Support Youth Ice Hockey Development in Mongolia

Recently, YCAPS members partnered with Shin Yokohama Junior Ice Hockey Club and community members in Yokosuka, Japan to send ice hockey gear to the coldest capital in the world, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Project Mongolia was initiated by two Canadian hockey players, Nate and Boe Leslie, founders of Leslie Global Sports. This annual drive to deliver hockey gear, build and repair rinks, and provide coaching clinics was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Undeterred, 300 pounds of gear, including 26 pairs of skates, 17 helmets, more than a dozen breezers, jerseys and hockey socks will be on their way shortly to Ulaanbaatar.

In support of this relationship-building cause, YCAPS seized the opportunity to assist Mongolian children wanting to play hockey. Grass-root initiatives like this can lead to a better quality of life, stronger community-relations, and an appreciation for other cultures. YCAPS will continue striving to develop quality relations with this unique city. If you have any gently used sports gear or children’s winter boots, please send an e-mail to nick@ycaps.org to coordinate donating to this cause.
