YCAPS' ASPEN (Allied Security Practitioners Exchange Network) Initiative Announces Okinawa Workshop

21 February 2026 - Naha, Okinawa

YCAPS is eager to invite Allied Security Practitioners Exchange Network (ASPEN) members to our next workshop. Only ASPEN members are eligible to attend.

Our fourth ASPEN workshop will be held in Naha, Okinawa, Japan on February 21, 2026. This workshop will include activities to teach participants about Maritime Security fundamentals, the connection between Maritime Security and Maritime Sovereignty Protection, and maritime domain awareness within the region. We are able to fund domestic travel for up to 10 Japanese and 10 American ASPEN members to attend the workshop. This includes meals on February 21st, 2 nights of hotel accommodation, and domestic travel to Naha. The workshop is designed to help participants learn specific skills and create a social bonding "retreat."

After the workshop, we will continue to organize a variety of professional development opportunities across Japan. If you think this sounds interesting, valuable, or fun, please apply for membership even if you cannot join this workshop. Feel free to share this with others you think would be a good fit for ASPEN. We aim for this workshop to be about half new ASPEN members and half individuals who have participated in previous events.

If you want to attend this workshop, please apply via this online form. This form will also suffice as your application for ASPEN membership if you are not already a member. If you are already an ASPEN member, this form is also for you. Applications will be approved on a continual basis, so there is an advantage to applying early.

If you cannot attend this workshop but still want to apply for membership, this link is for you.
