On 17 June, over 50 attendees joined YCAPSfor its Mongolia Connect program. YCAPS virtually hosted the American Ambassador to Mongolia for an informal discussion on American-Mongolian relations. Ambassador Michael Klecheski was confirmed by the US Senate on 2 January 2019 and has served in Ulaanbaatar since his initial posting.
Klecheski’s prepared remarks includedhis strategic themes for engagement with the Mongolian government and community alike. He expounded upon the challenges faced by his staff and the Mongolian people during the pandemic, and reiterated his support for the successes of democracy in Mongolia. During the Q&A session, questions ranged from assessing the investment atmosphere, Ukraine, and personal anecdotes and experiences from his time as Ambassador.
