On Friday, August 28th, YCAPS hosted author Anna Beth Keim in Washington, DC, for a discussion of her book, Heaven Does Not Block All Roads: A History of Taiwan Through the Life of Huang Chin-tao. In her book, Anna Beth Keim details the life of Huang Chin-tao, a soldier of fortune, political prisoner, and leader of Taiwan's pro-democracy movement. In the process, Ms. Keim uses Huang Chin-tao's life as a prism through which to view modern Taiwanese history. Following the book talk, the audience and Ms. Keim engaged in a lively Q&A session.
