As territorial disputes in Asia have become moreintensified, there is a growing interest in the region on the use of unmanned, hybrid, and unconventional naval capabilities. In this Indo-Pacific Maritime Hour webinar, Benjamin Blandin, Research Fellow at the Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR), will focus on an emerging aspect of China's grand strategy in the Indo-Pacific, which is the growing use of unmanned, hybrid and unconventional naval platforms as a tool of choice to contest its neighbours' maritime areas and create irreversible “facts on the ground.”

Dr Benjamin Blandin is a French maritime security expert based in Taipei, where he recently took up a position as Research Fellow at the Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR). He holds a Master’s degree in Geopolitics from Paris 8 University and a PhD in Geopolitics from the Paris Catholic University, and graduated with distinction from the Summer Academy of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) during his doctoral research. He also attended the civilian auditor programs in maritime security at the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale (IHEDN) and the Centre d’Études Stratégiques de la Marine (CESM). Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a Senior Strategy Consultant for international firms including Accenture, Deloitte, and Capgemini, as well as in the defense industry at Airbus Defence and Space.
