Walking Tour: Metropolitan Area Outer Ring Underground Discharge Channel
Saturday, September 5th, 09:30 - 11:00 JST (In-Person event- Tokyo area)

YCAPS will be visiting the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Outer Ring Underground Discharge Channel. This is the regional flood control facility which has become famous through its use as a shooting location in various films. The sheer scale of the facility is often considered awe-inspiring. Our group will take the “Underground Temple Course” which will include a visit to the underground pressure regulating water tank including a concierge’s overview of the facility as well as free time for exploration in the massive underground water tank.
*note- This tour will include climbing and descending around 100 wet and slippery steps and there are no elevators or escalators, so participation is limited to those who can walk independently. This is a rule of the facility and it is also wise advice.
*Due to safety regulations of the facility, young children(under elementary school age) are not allowed to attend, even with parental supervision.
All instructions from facility staff will be in Japanese. We will have some members in the group who may be able to help explain/translate; however, this is not an official paid interpretation and we can not guarantee English language explanation of all parts in the tour. We ask that all attendees do their best to help each other, but to keep an open mind and expectations realistic. If this is something you will have difficulty with or can not accept, we ask that you refrain from signing up for this YCAPS event.
Participation cost: 1,200 JPY per person (non-refundable, YCAPS must pre-pay, so please do not sign up unless you are sure you will attend. If you cancel, YCAPS will still have to pay for your slot in the tour*)
