    Join Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies (YCAPS) and La Trobe Asia, consortium lead for the Blue Security program, to launch the sixth paper in the Maritime Affairs Series published by La Trobe Asia: “Coordinating for maritime security: Southeast Asia’s evolving institutions.” The paper is written by Gusti Bagus Dharma Agastia, Kasira Cheeppensook, Scott Edwards and Amparo Pamelo Fabe. It explores the maritime security institutions and cooperation in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

    Guest speakers

     

    I Gusti Bagus Dharma Agasti is a PhD Candidate at the Graduate School of International Relations, Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto. He is also a Lecturer at the International Relations Study Program, President University, Indonesia.

     

    Dr Kasira Cheeppensook is Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations, Chulalongkorn University. Her interests include ASEAN, normative transition and human security. She was recently a Visiting Scholar at Harvard-Yenching Institute.

     

    Dr Scott Edwards is a Lecturer at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Reading. He is the inaugural Free and Open Indo-Pacific Research Fellow at the Yokosuka Council on Asia Pacific Studies (YCAPS). Dr. Edwards’ research interests broadly concern novel security threats in the Indo-Pacific, with a particular focus on cooperation in Southeast Asian maritime security.

     

    Professor Amparo Pamela Fabe, Professor of the Philippine Public Safety College and the National Police College. She is a 2023 Irregular Warfare Initiative Fellow and a Fellow of the Brute Krulak Center for 2024-2026. She has over 50 publications, books, and journal articles, in defense and security. She has been interviewed by the Voice of America Chinese, Foreign Policy, Straits Times, Benarnews and South China Morning Post.
