    YCAPS will host LTC Tim Devine and LtCol Zach Ota as a part of the Indo-Pacific Maritime Hour live webinar series. They will each speak for 10-15 minutes about findings and implications from their recent research on the land power of US and allied Army and Marine Corps forces in the Indo-Pacific region. The host will then moderate a Q&A session. The event will end sharply after 1 hour.

    Guest speakers

     

    LTC Tim Devine is an active duty U.S. Army Strategist assigned to U.S. Army Pacific. He holds a BA in History from The Citadel and a
    MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School. His recent publications include “To Upgun Seapower in the Indo-Pacific, You Need an Army,” a Proceedings article which he coauthored with General Charles Flynn, Commanding General of U.S. Army Pacific.

     

    LtCol Zach Ota is an infantry officer and a Southeast Asia regional affairs officer in the United States Marine Corps who currently serves as an operational planner for U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. He earned bachelor’s degrees in history and political science from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa and earned a master’s degree in national security affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School. His research can be found online and in publications from Marine Corps University Press, University of Warsaw Press, War on the Rocks, the Marine Corps Gazette, and the Center for International Maritime Security.
