    Dr. Alexis Dudden is a Professor of History at the Department of History at the University of Connecticut. She received her BA from Columbia University in 1991 and her PhD in history from the University of Chicago in 1998. She is currently writing a book, The Opening and Closing of Japan, 1850-2020, about Japan’s territorial disputes and the changing meaning of islands in international law. Dr. Dudden was previously a visiting Fulbright US-ROK Alliance Professor at Yonsei University in South Korea, and a visiting Faculty Fellow at Princeton University.
