On 12 January 2026, YCAPS hosted a Community Conversations event in Yokosuka on the future of the rules-based order vis-a-vis the second Trump administration. Dr. Benjamin Ho, Coordinator of the China Programme at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, discussed what the RBO (rules-based order) concept is, Trump 2.0 and the “Assault” on the RBO, American perceptions of the RBO, and the future of the RBO.
After Dr. Ho’s presentation, the group had an active and dynamic discussion during the Q&A session where both Dr. Ho and several experts in the audience unpacked a lot of the day’s talking points in more thorough details and looked at more specific scenarios within the topic.
YCAPS was glad to host Dr. Ho and the large turnout of YCAPS members highlighted the value of the discussion to the community.
