The Research Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs (RIIPA) hosted its 7th International Security Symposium in Kansai on July 26th. YCAPS sent a representative to attend the symposium and engage with the excellent lineup of speakers, CAPT Fillion (USN), CAPT Williams (RN), CAPT Wilkinson (RAN), and VADM Ito (JSMDF-retired).

This event examined Japan’s expanding security horizon and the role of mini-lateral security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. All speakers offered a detailed analysis, summarizing their country’s foreign policy positions and initiatives, and provided insights as to where collaboration could be implemented and improved. A key takeaway from the program was to identify opportunities for Japan to engage in “initiative-sharing,” especially in regard to global leadership in technology, economics, and security. It was a well-attended and well received event.

YCAPS would like to extend a thank you to FADTECH for IT support and Mobile Internet service to help bring this and other events to our base-hosting communities around Japan.
