On December 8, 2022, YCAPS hosted three experts on the Indian and Australian Coast Guards to discuss how Coast Guards can help implement the Free & Open Indo-Pacific concept and what the major barriers will be for success.
These experts included Dr. Pooja Bhatt, a Consultant at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi; Dr Bec Starting, Executive Director of La Trobe Asia and a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations in the Department of Politics, Media and Philosophy at La Trobe University; and Kate Clayton, a Research Officer at La Trobe Asia, a sessional academic in the Department of Politics, Media and Philosophy.
The webinar was moderated by John Bradford, Executive Director of YCAPS, and joined by over 30 participants. During the Q&A session, the three experts responded to questions including potential areas of bilateral or multilateral coordination and cooperation among coast guard forces in the region.
