YCAPS attended the ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC) Half-Year 2026 media and analysts' briefing, where Executive Director Mr Vijay Chafekar presented the key findings and emerging trends from the latest Half Year Report on Piracy and Armed Robbery Against Ships (January–June 2026).

The briefing highlighted a significant improvement in regional maritime security, with just 35 reported incidents across Asia—a 64% reduction compared to the same period in 2025 and the lowest first-half total since 2019. While incidents in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore also declined sharply, discussions emphasised the importance of sustained vigilance, continued cooperation among regional governments, and the adoption of practical risk-mitigation measures by the shipping industry to address the remaining opportunistic theft incidents.
YCAPS engages with regional partners such as ReCAAP ISC and remains committed to supporting dialogue, research, and capacity-building initiatives that strengthen maritime security and stability across the Indo-Pacific.
