On 21 August 2025, YCAPS was pleased to support the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Japan in delivering an important trilateral seminar examining emerging security challenges from Norwegian, Japanese, and UK perspectives. The event brought together senior defense officials, military leaders, and academic experts to explore deepening cooperation between Europe and Asia in response to shared security threats. The seminar was also hosted in conjunction with Norwegian frigate HNoMS Roald Amundsen’s first visit to Japan.
YCAPS Senior Fellow Keizo Kitagawa served as a speaker in Panel 2 on “Operational Realities: Furthering Europe-Asian Cooperation.” YCAPS Research Fellow Chiew-Ping Hoo and Indo-Pacific Policy Dialogue Coordinator William Winberg and members of the YCAPS team also participated. YCAPS appreciated the invitation to support the Norway-Japan-UK Seminar, as it provided an invaluable opportunity to understand the growing strategic convergence between Japan and Norway, as the two nations celebrate 120 years of diplomatic relations.
