    Sema Gelegen

    Director of Private Sector Outreach

     

    Born and raised in Tokyo attending both Japanese and international schools, Sema holds a strong interest in the influence soft power has on country image, competitiveness, and development. She earned an MA in International Relations through the 5-year Program at International Christian University (ICU) where she also majored in International Relations and Business during her undergraduate studies. Her master’s thesis focused on the synergy between nation branding and corporate branding under the context of soft power and international competitiveness. Her academic interests also include public and cultural diplomacy, bilateral or multilateral diplomacy, sustainable development, maritime disputes, Japan-Korea relations, and Asia-Pacific issues. Prior to joining the YCAPS Executive Committee, she worked as a member of the operating team for YCAPS University Chapter.
